During my 30-year career in IT, I have been able to contribute to the development, operation, expansion, and improvement of IT infrastructures across various industries with correspondingly diverse requirements. I primarily carry out these tasks using Open Source software, supplementing it with commercial products when appropriate. My technical strengths are in Self-Hosting with FreeBSD and Linux servers on the Internet for web, databases, applications, and email, as well as in general internal IT infrastructure for networking, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring, and firewalls / gateways. Including all basic services taken for granted like DNS, DHCP, NTP and much more. With my broad expertise and deep, long-standing experience, I navigate various aspects of IT with confidence and reliability. Thanks to my quick grasp of new concepts and my solid, broad background, I am able to quickly find my way around even complex system environments and new products. I work independently, take the initiative, am precise, forward-thinking, and responsible, helpful and solution-oriented, so that I can tackle challenges pragmatically and sustainably. I also value constructive dialogue and collaboration within the team, as well as with customers and suppliers, in order to find the most effective solution. My general interest in IT, which began as a hobby back in 1987, extends far beyond my professional responsibilities. I enjoy deepening and expanding my knowledge on my own so that I can apply it in my daily work. Thanks to my early professional experience as a architectural draftsman, I am also skilled at planning and organizing more extensive work steps and processes. This allows me to ensure stable server operation while striving for absolute perfection, a goal that is probably never attainable. Did I spark your interest?
